It connects 5 universities that have been considered pioneers since their inception and share a common vision for the future of Universities, as areas of inclusion, multi-participatory creativity and innovation, critical and free thinking, dynamic interdisciplinary experimentation in research and learning, with an emphasis on open science, diversity, local commitment and global vision, social interventions through research and knowledge on critical issues of concern to the European and global community. The five new and dynamic European universities are: University of Paris 8 (France), Roskilde University (Denmark), University of Constance (Germany), University of the Aegean (Greece), New Bulgarian University (Bulgaria).
The basic characteristics of ERUA΄s logotype are the two colors, red and green (dark blue - green actually) and the sign next to E which is the sign that appears between of letters U and A.
The colors that have been selected are not a random choice but represent something. The red at the two first letters represents the mix of the colors that there are at five flags of the countries that belongs these five
universities. Have been mixed ,all the colors, each time that they appear. The colour that occurs is actually a softer red but it was so soulless. So it was chosen a warmer tone of the same colour because it looks approachable and more friendly. The color at the last two letters is the colour of alliance. Green represents the hope, the life, the creativity. Also, the sociability and the social offer. Dark blue represents the seriousness and the knowledge. The color is a mix of these two colors but has more quantity of green so it looks more like dark green.
Now about the sign, is the common point of the letters U and A which represents the University Alliance. So we can “see” the university alliance inside the U and the A in a darker tone in order that can be noticable and next to E as an individual characteristic.
Last but not least is the calligraphy font of the tagline, European Reform of University Alliance, which gives
a more formal option. Generally the logotype has 2 fonts, one more modern which also has an inside clue and one which gives prestige and is appropriate for a university logo. The aim was the mix of these two characteristics cause ERUA is something that deserves seriousness , dedication and everyday people who cares and feel comfortable inside this.
